RPC President's letter to Lake County Board Members re: Baxter/Bridge

September 7, 2023

Dear Chair Hart and Members of the County Board,

I am the President of Riverwoods Preservation Council (RPC), a non-profit organization composed of resident volunteers.

RPC's purpose is to advocate for environmental awareness, educate the community on environmental and ecological matters and promote environmentally-sound practices.

Enclosed is a book authored by RPC members which is distributed to Riverwoods residents as a guide to understanding our delicate environment.

Riverwoods is a unique community that focuses on maintaining an ecologically balanced environment through preservation and restoration.  The proposed Bridge development is a direct threat to our community.  Even though the site is located in unincorporated Deerfield, the increase in diesel truck traffic on Sanders Road will most greatly affect the area to the west, being the residential subdivision of Thorngate and most properties in the Village of Riverwoods.

Given the many initiatives that Lake County has pursued in protection of our environment, we hope that you will take action to preserve the special ecosystems in the Village of Riverwoods as an example and model for future efforts throughout the county.

Sincerely,

Randi Merel

President

I am sending my concerns through the channels you recommended.  But I know I need to go further than that.  Do you know of any organizations or neighboring communities that might have more experience in overcoming such developments?  I would apprecaite any contact information you would be able to share.

We hope you share our concerns and will help us block this transaction.

Sincerely,

Randi Merel
